I agree, it needs to be an amazing experience! Getting engaged is the start of a grand new adventure and you deserve to have many pictures of it to look back on. Let's break it down together.

The Step By Step Guide


Create a plan

Where do you want to propose? Somewhere you both love or during a new adventure?

What time of day makes the most sense? (sunset is usually the best for lighting!)

Do you need to set anything up? (flowers, memorabilia, etc.)



Recruit your team

Friends and/or family members would love to help out, don't be afraid to ask! Know if your partner wants to have them around or if she would prefer a more intimate moment.



Solidify the date

Coordinate logistics with your team to make a reasonable excuse to why you and your partner are at the engagement spot.

Get a photographer you trust to be nonchalant and capture the moment.



Make it happen

Put the plan into action! Roll with the nature of the moment and improvise if you have to. Be true to yourself! That's what beautiful and honest about proposals.

The Difference between the surprise and planned engagement shoot


It's always great to do both! The Surprise Shoot is great for sharing on social media as soon as possible. People got to know!


The Planned Engagement Shoot is best for the wedding invitations and even print outs at the wedding. This gives you both another opportunity to dress the part and cater a specific experience you want to share with your loved ones.



What if it makes more sense to only do one?

Then only do one! It's less of a time commitment for both the couple and the people involved. Planned Engagement shoots are really optimal for achieving a different look with different outfits and settings that the surprise proposal didn't achieve.
